Suzy & Martin had recently redecorated the lower floor of their home, and they were looking for a sleek and contemporary kitchen redesign. This would be the finishing touch to their show-home ground-floor space.
We built the kitchen using the Pronorm X-line range—with Light Grey matt laminate units, Stainless Steel handle rails, and Silestone worktops in Miami White; a bright colour scheme to complement the décor across the rest of their home.
They wanted a sociable space, but also somewhere calm where they could relax at the end of the day. To create spots for unwinding and socialising with the chef, we incorporated a compact TV unit with soft seating and added a wrap-down breakfast bar in Sherwood Dark Brown—contrasting the soft grey units and white worktops, and complementing the flooring throughout the ground floor.
We changed the layout of the room during the remodel, to create a better flow within the cooking area. By incorporating a Bora downdraft induction hob, we were able to move the hob from the internal wall to the peninsular—opening up the space, but still providing the best possible ventilation.
We also incorporated a suite of Siemens appliances—including a single oven and combination microwave, a fridge/freezer, and a dishwasher—as well as a Slimline Caple wine fridge on the end of the unit.
The white Blanco Silgranit sink blends seamlessly into the surface of the worktop and features a classic Chrome tap.
A tall storage unit and numerous drawers provide ample storage whilst keeping the walls clear of units. Tactical lighting also increases this sense of space, with accent lighting below the breakfast bar and the TV unit, as well as a Grey Mirror splashback on the rear wall for bouncing light back into the room. We also brightened the ceiling with a perimeter of cornice lighting—a subtle detail, and the perfect antidote to dark autumn afternoons.
