Stuart & Jenny’s new kitchen is the beautiful centrepiece of their extension. The skylight and the large sliding doors flood the room with natural light, creating a bright and airy space.
The kitchen was built using the Pronorm X-line handleless range – in Gloss Crystal and Gloss Stone Grey, with a stainless steel finish on the profiles of the handleless rails. The soft colour palette has a timeless feel to it, which complements the warm, natural colour of the oak flooring. The client chose a gloss finish for the furniture doors – to reflect the light and enhance the sense of openness.
The worktop material is ‘Corian’: a unique blend of minerals and acrylic, which creates a stone-hard surface that can be shaped to suit any design or dimension. The nature of this material meant we could make the island in one piece, seamlessly joining the downturn leg which completes the breakfast bar area. The chosen shade, ‘Linen’, has a soft speckle through it, which adds depth and a hint of colour to the light surface.
The kitchen showcases a range of contemporary appliances. These include: a Siemens induction extractor hob, a Siemens integrated dishwasher, two Siemens single ovens (one with a microwave function, the other with steam), and a tall integrated fridge (Miele) and freezer (Siemens) within the bank of units on the back wall, on either side of the ovens.
The Blanco ‘Andano’ undermount sink – in a stainless steel finish – has a Quooker Fusion Square hot water tap in ‘Brushed Chrome’. The sink is also fitted with an InSinkErator waste disposal system.
As finishing touches, we added two handy accessory rails on either side of the sink – offering a place to store tea, coffee, condiments and a paper towel holder, whilst keeping the worktops clear. Above these, we also incorporated two open, easy-access shelf units for displaying mugs and other decorative items.
