It’s penthouse luxury for Johnny and Margaret in their stylish and compact new kitchen – the perfect addition to the trendy, contemporary interior of their open-plan living and dining area.
Designed with the handleless Pronorm Y-line range, the client’s chosen colours are Matt Arctic White and Gloss Lacquer Onyx Grey – which we complemented with a textured Cement Grey material for the worktops, door finishes and panels. The Glazed Porcelain floor tiles by Gemini are Hillock Light Grey, rounding off the colour scheme.
The worktops are a sleek 16mm laminate – a popular choice for enhancing the streamlined look of handleless furniture. The Blanco ‘Metra’ lay-on sink has an ‘Alumetallic’ Silgranit finish, which dovetails with the worktop colour. The accompanying Quooker Fusion Flex hot water tap has a stainless steel finish and features a handy pull-out spray hose.
The kitchen’s large appliances are: a Bora Basic induction extractor hob, two Siemens single ovens (one with microwave functionality), a Miele integrated dishwasher, a tall integrated fridge by Liebherr, an undercounter freezer by Siemens, and a Caple wine cooler.
Decorative storage features include the open shelves at the end of the tall run of units on the left wall, which are designed to sit within the shelved larder. This is a nice detail facing the dining area for displaying cookbooks and decorative items.
Additionally, on the far right wall we incorporated Pronorm’s recessed rail system, which can have shelves and accessories clipped into it. This is an interesting design touch, adding extra storage to the kitchen without taking up floor space.
